If you want to write the sentence on a advertisement/leaflet:

‘lead by a experienced technician’

How would you spell the word ‘lead’? Should it be led or is lead correct?

‘led by an experienced technician’
// Led is the correct way to spell the past tense of lead. Lead is a common misspelling of the past tense of the verb lead.//
and its 'an' experienced technician.
led is past tense so assuming the mean (Currently) Lead by.......etc then Lead is correct. Though I'd probably use "Headed by....".
Led is the correct spelling in this context, however it should be 'an' experienced technician, not 'a'.

Just to add the sentence is not past tense

It is advertising so it is saying that the event will be lead by an experienced technician
^ make sure you write 'an' experienced ...
Lankeela, no "led" is past tense.
// Lead is a common misspelling of the past tense of the verb lead//

Most probably because the past participle/past tense of the verb "read" is "read".
Led Zeppelin chose to spell their first name thus rather than lead (Lead Zeppelin as in ging down like a lead balloon). They feared that many would pronounce it as 'leed' rather than 'led', so they omitted the 'a' and dispelled any possible ambiguity.
TTT but you would not say 'it will be leed by an experienced technician'
'...will be led...'
lank: "TTT but you would not say 'it will be leed by an experienced technician" - Lead is pronounced Led in this context. See ken's post at 15:46.
Why not rephrase it: 'An experienced technician will lead the event.'
If you can used the words 'guided directed or headed' by then the correct word to use is LED
Good thought Ellie
People are confusing tense with voice here. Led is indeed the past tense form of lead. Led is also the passive voice form of lead, which is what it is in this instance.
The only time Lead is pronounced led is in the use of the soft metal element.
