a good carpenter can infill the gap and match your trim....we had this issue in the States in replacing a unit and our man shaped up a lovely plate warming drawer on about this size of gap.....

wow this is a tough one -how about taking out an adjacent cupboard and replace with a unit 10 cm shorter -well in fact you will need 20 cm shorter as you need some space either side of the stove. ?

dunno talbot just every free standing stove I've had has instructions to leave a gap around of at least 5cm . I would hazard a guess its for safety reasons -wooden units getting hot/plastic units melting?
