If you live in the Midlands mark this date down on your calendar - NEXT THURSDAY 25th. The Vulcan is doing a "Cold War Tour" around various RAF and ex RAF bases so you may get a good view :) Can't wait!!

About 50 years ago at North Weald I witnessed a Vucan low pass then steep climb with afterburners. I don't know if the earth shook but everyhing else did. Absolutely unforgettable!

We often see it here over the East Midlands, it's brilliant.
I've heard it said that they only manage to get airborne due to the curvature of the earth.....
I don't like them much - so huge and bulky. Compare them with Concordes, so sleek and quick, and they look like something designed for the last war but one.

ROUTE: take off 2pm Robin Hood DONCASTER, then over these RAF bases SCAMPTON, CONINGSBY, MARHAM, HONNINGTON, WYTON, GAYDON, WITTERING, COTTESMORE, WADDINGTON, FINNINGLEY Back to base Robin Hood Airport DONCASTER
