Shouldn't the promoter have got permission before selling tickets?

The people that booked travel and accommodation for these concerts after buying tickets should be refunded, it's a bloody mockery. Garth Brooks seems to be some kind of child as well, throwing his rattle out of the pram.

Dot must be fuming.
It's an utter disgrace. It was a huge opportunity for the area - lots of money to be made.

Dotty will be terribly upset.
I read quite a bit about this last week, Sandy.....the promoters should have got permission....and should be liable for the costs of those who have lost money.

I hope there are enough of them to club together to take some sort of action.

Garth says he won't choose which to play....he doesn't have to I think. He should play the gigs for which permission has been granted.

It looks as thought the promoters tried to bulldoze through all 5 concerts and has come a cropper. A shame, loads of fans will be disappointed.

Wild Horses wouldn't have got me there,
I'll bet he's Mr Blue now.

Nor me. But he seems to have a following.
As a certain female PM once said:
"Just rejoice in that news!"
:-)
What a damned shame for all those who had booked.
was that one for each of his fans..............

Agree, Mamya. They'll get refunds on the tickets but not so easy to get a refund on flights or hotel bookings.
Is it a noise issue that has caused all the kerfuffle? I like Garth Brooks and I have no doubt that for many this would have been a one-time opportunity to see him.

I realise that many do not like country music - but that isn't really the issue.
Don't suppose Dot will be rejoicing.....she'll have booked accommodation and probably travel......time off work.....

Whatever our thoughts on MrB.....I know how I'd be feeling if I were Dot.. she was chuffed to bits when she got her tickets.
Partly the noise, Wolf......There is a limit on the number of big events that can be held there.
Three concerts took it to that limit but the promoters were cocky enough to think they could just go ahead with five.....that backfired on them.

That's what I gathered from the Irish papers....may be more to it.
If you paid by credit card would you be able to claim back for hotels and travel?
The move prompted the US singer to say he would play "all or none".

Well Garth has certainly showed his fans who's boss!
I've gt no sympathy for the promoter who knew full well what was likely to happen and I imagine thought that public opinion and money would prevail. In Garth Brooks defence though, depending on what he travels with, and I imagine it's specialist sets, huge screens and a gigantic entourage and backline- that will costs thousands and thousands per gig and I would suspect it's just not economically viable for him to only do 3 gigs if he's flown a lot of his tour gear in.
Still both his people and the promoter would have know this in advance and chanced their arm- so there you have their integrity for you, really sad for his fans who have booked travel and accommodation.
He only travels with a guitar and a hat.
Wont be renaming the ground Brooke Park then just threw that in there shudda threw it out.
poor dottie she must be mega disappointed and well out of pocket with air fares and hotel bills, what a bummer and me wishing like crazy that I could have been there what an unexpected blow, I am sure he has played Dublin before but wont come to England, don't know why.
Your thoughts dottie pls ?
bet there are lots of cities and towns in england that would welcome him with open arms

all that money lost from the irish economy
