There is no legal entitlement to any time off for such things, the employer can legally tell you that you have to make such appointments out of working time or take unpaid leave or holiday

Not legally, I'm sure. However, there may be some agreement in place that allows it.

I give blood every six months, and I only recently found out that my company will pay two hours twice a year in order to do so. It's worth reading your company handbook/contract!

There is no law that says you must have paid leave for appointments and unless it is part of your contract then you must use annual leave or take unpaid leave.

There is no legal issue here, this is about the employer/employee terms that you work under. They may well pay for medical absence but they don't have to.

The only appointments I was paid for with my last employer were hospital ones, which you obviously cannot choose yourself................
