Where can I get funding for HGV training?

I am considering an HGV articulated driving course, and I am wondering as to what funding I would be entitled to. I have been told that due to the 80,000 drivers short in this country the Government have decided to help us by assisting with the cost of training. However the only "help" I can find is a loan, which obviously we would have to pay back, so this is not really any help at all.

Are there any ABers who have recently qualified as HGV drivers, and if how did they get funding for this, and if so how do we get this?

Thanks for any replies, and by the way we are all told to get our skates on as the E.U. is going to make it harder for us to qualify soon, apparently.
