50k + a year - Is this possible as an Engineer ?.

I completed a City & Guilds in Refrigeration and AC and after posting my CV on the internet recently received an e-mailed job offer from a company in Maidstone Kent looking who are looking for Engineer's.

They are saying I could earn over £50,000 per year plus, and have medical insurance, meal allowance, tool allowance and get to drive a brand new Mercedes Vito van.

Is this possible or is it a hoax ?.

I wouldn't get out of bed for £50,000.

Don't underestimate yourself, BRAVO. You have qualifications in a field where there is always a demand.

I say go for it. If the job doesn't live up to your expectations, you'll have had some experience, and you can move on.

Thank's to everyone for the answer's..

I thought £1000 a week was good pay, but on reflection, I might ask for more...after all as somebody with the maths degree pointed out, it's only £379.80 a week after tax !..thats only £19,749.60 a year.

Oh and by the way Lakitu, that's Refrigeration !...And yes please tell us what do these engineer's do to earn 100k ?.

All answers welcome !

The more u earn as an employee the more tax &NI you pay!

Take the job, if only to build a customer base. U can always work privately in your own time......

good luck

I was going to ask the same question, hundreddolla.

As I calculate it, presuming to employee has no special allowances, income tax on £50,000 is 20% on £36,000 and 40% on £8,565 (the remaining £5,435 being tax free). This amounts to £10,626. Add NI contributions of £3804 (11% on £34,580) and total deductions are £14,430 (28.8%), leaving the employee with £35,570 or £684.04 per week.

One thing you should not do, BRAVO1 is take on face value what people tell you. Although it is not as straightforward as it should be, you do not need a maths degree to work out your potential tax and NI deductions.

This is a great tool for working out tax / salary etc.

So Terambulan, where DID you get your figures from?!?!?

I would have thought £50,000 for a refridgeration "engineer" would be fantastic money...

The calculator you mention is out of date an uses allowances for 2007-08.

Thank's Judge !.

Thing's seem better already.

If I heard the saying " I wouldn't get out of bed for that" ever again, I think I will go crazy.
