Recording grievance meeting conversation in the work place.

To cut a long story short, I've had several grievance meetings at my work place in the UK. During these meetings the managers (offical higher persons) have said things that are basically not right and they have said things which at a later date they have denied to others. They are unaware of my recordings via my mobile phone but with these recordings I can basically prove what they said to be right.
I recently handed in my resignation on the fact that I cannot return to work due to stress and depression caused by various people. Because I have done this the company are getting very nervous and are trying to cover there backs.

So basically are these recordings of any use to myself?
I'd be greatful for some geniue facts regarding the UK Laws on this kind of thing. Many thanks in advance...

I've no idea on the law in this case, but I would say that whatever happens, you need evidence, and that's what your recordings provide.

Are you a Trade Union member? If so, they will have access to the expertise to help you. Were the grievance meetings followed up by any sort of letter or written record by the managers? If not, there's no evidence and they don't amount to a penn'orth of parrot's poop. If they did, did you dispute the record at the time?

Worth talking to an employment law expert as this could be regarded as constructive dismissal.
Covert recordings of the actual meeting are admissible evidence according to Amwell View School v Dogherty.

It is legal to record conversations covertly. It is covered under section 70 of the police and criminal evidence act, it states that to be legal someone must consent and someone must know, that person is you. I was in a similar situation and it worked a treat, they nearly fainted when I told them I had evidence of bullying and harrassment etc, they sharp backed down.
