Just had my very first Colonoscopy. I decided to have it done without sedation. The whole procedure took an hour and 20 minutes. The camera man couldn't get a valve open so I had to keep rolling over. I was reading about other peoples experiences and most of them said they got embarrassed by passing wind. I was the opposite - it was amusing.

My colon is fine however they are order another CT scan.

I had one of those a few years ago. I can honestly say that it wasn't the best fun I have ever had in bed, with my mum in the air...never again !

Was it in a hospital, or did you go to a small windowless shop and pay a fee?

The passing of wind was the amusing bit because for the first 30 minutes I was trying not to pass gas. They could tell this was the case and said "don't worry about it, you need to otherwise you're going to be in pain". Well she put her head down and I thought - let her rip! The nurse/2nd camera operator said "oh god what was that". I just started laughing which then caused me to 'parrrrrp' again.

The prep you need to do before you have one has to be done to be believed, absolutely nothing anyone tells you about it can prepare you for it, totally amazing...in a blooming awful way!

I totally agree. The taste of the Prep (Klean Prep) is awful. My mum described it as really sweet but really cheap and manky strawberries. I didn't mind spending hours on the toilet as I was prepared; I had a book, some music and a newspaper. It wasn't as bad as people have said it is and I think I'm allowed to comment given the fact I had a camera (it also felt like the camera man was inside too) stuck up my botty for 80 minutes.
