So I sign up for ther free month on Experian, complete the forms and end up on the My Credit Report page. How do I go about finding out if anyone else has searched foir a Credit Report for me recently, because I can't find the right button to click?

i cannot find that heading anywhere
On the last one I did flipnflap albeit in March last year, it was the 8th heading. They might have changed their layout.

There might be a "Show all posts" tab.
if you can't see this information on your on line credit report, it might be a good idea to request a papercopy, this costs £2.00, all you need to do is write a letter with all your details, title, full name, current address and any previous address's, sign your letter and within 7 working days your report should be with you. include any post codes especially your current one. this should give you all your information, including electoral roll info, credit information, previous searches and linked address information. hope this helps
