A friend of mine is looking for a career change and wants to become a qualified Plumber he is currently an engineer with an university degree. He has only received advise from Distance learning companies and I can't help thinking they would be a bit biased! does anyone know the best way to become a plumber? is an apprenticeship a good plan with college maybe one day a week? if so what college/course and how much could you expect to be paid annually if anything! any info would be great, thanks.

How old is he? He may be a bit old for an apprenticeship, they are usually for 19-24 year olds. He could possibly get an adult apprenticeship if he is over 25 but unless he could find a company willing to pay for his training, he may have to fund it himself.

This link here has information, but also states that adult apprenticeships are not usually available in England.

I don't see how you can learn plumbing via distance learning, surely you need 'hands on' training?
