We went to Tenerife a fortnight ago, and my son (12) developed quite severe tonsilitus, which resulted in three trips to the doctors, and five days when he stayed in bed, and we couldn't really leave the room. So basically we lost a week of our holiday! can you claim any money back through your insurance does anybody know for loss of holiday?

unlikely, but check your policy - it will all be in there
Hi...doubt it very much...my son got a severe stomach bug 3 days into our 3 week holiday in France earlier this year and after numerous trips to the doctors we ended up bed sitting him for the next week...it's just one of those things that could happen here or on holiday so I didn't expect the insurance firm to pay anything out...a friend of mine who works in travel insurance has told me that any doctor visits should be covered under form E111 (less any excess) but not for loss of a holiday whilst waiting for someone to get well again, there would be thousands of claims put in to insurance companies every year, hopefully from honest people but even more from dishonest people faking sickness just because they want some cash back....Hope this helps and hope your son is now well again...footymum

Thanks for your answers. I had Tonsilitus the week beforre we went, so my son blamed me for spoiling his holiday! Thankfully he is better now.
