I got insurance through Tesco no problem - but it cost me about three times the normal rate.
Just shop around.

I got my elderly mother's annual europe cover from the A.A. They were by far the cheapest based on her circumstances. She had two conditions that needed to be registered. I paid £97 where as a dozen or so other insurers all came in at £120 plus and the A.A cover was better with a lesser excess.

It is essential that you shop around. My wife and I both have Hypertension and high Cholesteral,in March we went to the Dominican Republic and had quotes ranging from £280 to a massive £900 for two weeks, some medical companies are a total rip off.
And then i discovered ENDSLEIGH who have a completely different type of policy for Pre-existing medical insurance...Quote.
( Any pre-existing medical condition which you have suffered from or were diagnosed with for more than 12 months before arranging coverand for which you have effective control of through regular drug treatment.)
Cost only £132.15.
SAGA which I thought would be competetive wnted £400
I hope this is helpful to someone.
