Bought a new car yesterday, what's the process for putting a private plate on, do I need to wait to get the new registration documents?

its a lot easier if you do wait for the new v5,why dident you get the garage to do it for you.or if you bought it second hand new,you can do it with the little slip,v5c,that you should have been given.
