scenario: lost policy cert, no other insurer's document, road tax expiring in 4 days, lost cc statement to identify payee, already called all possible insurers, already called cc company, statement can be sent out in 10 days so too late.

prevention: 1) wouldn't prefer to re-insure as I have full NCB, need proof from existing insurer 2) wouldn't prefer to declare off road, i urgently need the car

tax it online, if its insured you dont need the documents
You'll need them if you have a crash!

Sort yourself out. Spend a day organising all your paperwork into a concertina file, and you will find your documents.

If you can't find them re-insure the car.

thanks rdv, you saved me! own you one mate
Ducking the issue then?

What will you do if you have a crash this afternoon?
Dont worry, its on the data base at Swansea so it can be traced, you should get a renewal notice before it expires so you will find out then or when your CC card statement arrives

panic > i already have a motor insurance, i just lost the cert thats all, i already pay for a new road tax at dvla site, hopefully i will get in before my current expires

rdv> thanks again, i think best thing is to wait til my insurer sends me the renewal letter, it should be due in next week or two. if not i will have to contact my cc company to get them to send out a statement but it will cost 6, so i would go for first choice xD
