I am in the process of buying a shared ownership house. The guy that lives there at the moment is wanting to move quickly because of promotion at work & is going into rental accommodation until he finds something to buy. I am going to be a cash buyer. There are no hold-ups my side - I am moving due to my marriage breakdown. I asked a local solicitor to do the conveyancing work for me & know he has to do searches etc but the time is ticking by & nothing sorted as yet. How long, on average should this sort of thing take? any advice welcome. thanks x

About 6 weeks, in my experience.

thank you. It is almost 4 weeks now & personally can't see anything happening in the next 2 weeks but I'm hoping! x
I am in the same situation as you and first saw the property in August. My solicitor is having trouble getting information from the Housing Association. Questions he asks are not replied to correctly and at first I was told I would be in for Christmas now its 2018.
Just realised the question was asked in 2014 so hope you have moved in by now!

I finally moved on 20th December 2014 but thought I'd never get here. I do hope things are sorted for you very soon
