Is there a small Air hole in the petrol filler cap ? If this gets blocked up the engine stops once the air in the tank is used up,or there may be a blocked petrol tank breather pipe.Try running the engine without the tank cap on (be careful ) if it keeps going then this could be where your problem lies.
good luck!!
