house insurance exceptions

just wondered if anyone would know if a faulty double glazed door would be covered under my buildings insurance? Every time it rains I end up with a huge puddle and sopping wet floor where my door's seals have failed. And it's raining quite a lot at present!

Think that would be classed as wear and tear. Are they still under guarantee, if so you could go back to the Company that installed them.

It may be covered but you could end up paying out quite a bit as you will have to pay the excess and then higher premiums in future years because of making a claim.

It would probably be cheaper to get a local builder/glazer to replace the seals.

It won't be expensive to have a new seal put in. Probably not as much as your excess or the increase in your premium if you do claim.
If you've had your door for a few years, contact a small local company.
