select new so that the new sheet of paper is on your screen.

select table column from the top, and select draw table.

now add columns and rows at will!

You may need to elaborate a little on this....

Otherwise the answer is going to be get a ruler and a pen, draw vertical lines.
Or if you turn it sideways horizontal lines......................
but then you'd have rows Craft ;-)
Are you using a word processing package and want to divide the screen into columns?

If so what package are you using?
I suppose you could go to local builders merchant, buy some columns, place paper on floor stand columns on paper.

Tables tab.
select table tab from menu, select create table, click how many columns you need and 1 row!

click ... change as necessary!
you could just paint loo rolls and place them on the paper, they;d do as columns, no needt o go to a builders merchant :-)
Take your on MS Word, Columns are inder page layout. Just highlight text are you have typed it and select how many you need the text to spread over.

I suppose I asked for that. A friend has asked me to do a rota for her and I really have forgotten how to do columns( I presume in Word) Believe it or not, several years ago I did (and passed) an NVQ3 in IT.
lol!

i still need to hover over all the column choices occasionally, and i used to teach word to complete beginners years ago!
personally i;d find it easier to use excel
yes excel is great for tidy lists and tables, even if you will never need graphs ...
I'm with fluff.................love Excel, hate Word.
If using Microsoft Word giveup I would go to the top options and choose "Format" then click "columns" then choose how many columns you need. I use this method all the time. Hope you get on ok - let us know :)

Getting nowhere fast. Going to grovel to my grandson.
what exactly do you need?

Giveup - use Excel, it's a great deal easier, and it automatically gives you the columns and boxes you need.
As others have asked, what are you trying to do and what package are you using.

You 'presume' you are using MS Word, could you confirm this and which version??? Also have a look to see if you have Excel as this may well be more suitable.

You say you are trying to create a rota. How do you want it to look? Are you wanting Jane, Jack and John along one axis with Mon, Tues, Weds etc along the other?
