My house - buildings / contents insurance documents asks the following -

' How many claims or losses have you or anyone living with you suffered at or away from the home in the last 5 years ''

1. I have breakdown cover from British Gas for central heating , drains , plumbing and electrics .

2. I also have breakdown cover for kitchen appliances from a different company .

3. Also I have car breakdown cover .

Would call outs for any of the 3 above , have to be declared as a claim with respect to the question relating to the house buildings / contents policy ?

No, I don't think so- assuming these are not going to be covered by your household policy and so are not relevant
They mean household insurance claims. To ascertain whether you're the type that gets clumsy with pots of paint everytime you fancy a new carpet....
yes as it does say away from your home
Yeah but 4get, some items are insured to be used outside of the home...Like camera's, golfclubs....etc.
The away from home bit refers to portable items that are covered by your contents insurance like cameras, laptops etc. They are only interested in claims you may have made on buildings/contents insurance.
No - your others are breakdown covers not insurance policies. You do not talk in terms of claims or losses on them, they're call outs rather than monetary payments.

So the answer is no.
I don't think so, 4getmenot. A washing machine repair or a flat tyre is not relevant to a standard household insurance policy. The reference to 'away from your home'will cover things like a claim for lost golf clubs or cash or goods temporarily removed from the home that would be covered by a household policy (maybe with extensions)
ah i see can i just point out that best to check policy as british gas sometimes just cover same things as you are paying building insurance for.
