Xerox 4800 Scanner

Still need help with the above guys ................... have downloaded the drivers and rebooted, but still laptop won't connect with scanner .... do I need Paperpot as scanner used this before on old flaptop?? HELP!!

Have you actually installed the driver? It's a fairly common error for people to think that they simply need to download the file (and then, possibly, to reboot their computer). The file which you download isn't actually the driver, it's just the set-up program for the driver. You need to double-click on it, to run the program which then installs the driver.

(If you've already done that, I apologise for wasting your time but I thought it best to get a known 'user error' dealt with first).

Hi Chris - initially I made the error you mention, but then i promise I have run it and installed it - so whats next?
Switch everything off. Unplug the scanner from your laptop's USB port. Boot the laptop. Plug in scanner (while it's still switched off). Wait for a minute or two to see if 'found new hardware' (or similar) appears. If it does, the driver should then become associated with it (so that your laptop will recognise the scanner).

If that doesn't work, then switch on the scanner and wait for another minute or two, to see if you get any joy that way.

If that still doesn't work, switch everything off and start all over again but this time switching on the scanner before plugging its lead into the laptop's USB port.

If that doesn't work. phone Xerox scanner support on 0800 0199689. (It's a free call but unfortunately I don't know what hours their staff are available).
