No Blinkin' Hot Water

Turned the shower on this morning and the water was stone cold, as was all the water from the taps. I checked and the hot water had been switched on but the pipes to the water tank were all cold. This has happened twice this year already and I just needed to replace the thermostat in the tank but since the last time we have had a new tank and pump installed. Could it still be the same thing?

Which tank Milly? ............. big copper thingy in the airing cupboard?
Boiler or electric immersion?
If your boiler does the hot water, is it a combi or gravity type (roof tank)?

i sympathise with you, i had to suffer cold showers for about 3 months, the problem cured itself!! sorry cant advise you

Hi Builder. It's the big copper tank in the airing cupboard. We only have electric emersion heating.

mine does this.

Removing the cap you find a bunch of wires and a small plastic block. On the block is a tiny pinhole

Pressing this in with a pin gives you a small click sound and resets it.

As Doc says if you're not that confident with the electrics it's best to turn the power off at the mains before removing the cap.

When you've done it once you'll see how quick and easy it is to reset.

Thanks all! I'll be a bit miffed if I have previosly bought 3 new thermostats when all I needed to do was press a reset. I am supposed to have the plumber coming round tonight but will try the reset when I get in and if that works I can cancel him.
