I have an old cordless phone, probably around three/four years old and no longer have the instruction booklet. It rings for half a tone on an incoming call, and then stops although someone is always on the other end. The other phones in the house ring OK. I have tried plugging in the cradle into the socket again, switching all the buttons on and off etc. and it doesn't change. Could anyone tell me what to do ?

Well its worked for the last few years, I wonder if a button needs pressing
"google" the phone model and see what comes up. Some user manuals are on the internet.
Does it say DECT on it anywhere? if it's not DECT then it's an anologue phone and can be picked up by radio scanners - get a digital one for security.
If the phone has an internal ring tone / external ring tone feature then be sure both volume settings for this feature are loud enough. My cordless phone always rings the external ring tone for half a tone before recognising the incoming caller number, then the tone will change to the internal ring tone. Internal ring tones sound when the incoming callers number and name has been saved on the phones phonebook (i.e. friends and family).
