Can anyone help please. If I want to buy a new pc but cannot decide between a celeron and a P4. The main difference I can see is the cache. Is 256k very slow??? What is the cache speed?

Thanks

It has nothing to do with speed it, is the amount of level 2 (L2) cache the processor has on board (256, 512, 1024 and 2048 kB). The more the better since L2 cache is very fast, the more processing that can be done using it the better. The L2 speed is aprox. equal to the processor speed (up-to 3.2 GHz) compared to FSB (front size bus) speeds of 400 MHz. See here: http://www.amtiinc.com/product.asp?cat=1&pt=36
