THC is an abreviation for Tetra-hydro-carbinol delta 9, and is the active ingredient found in cannabis that gets you stoned. It's naturally occuring within the plant. Not sure how it gets you stoned.
THC is the abbreviation for tetra-hydro cannabinol, it is naturally occurring in the cannabis plant and it works by mimicking receptors in your brain more info here: http://www.cannabis.net/cannabinoids/index.html
Well MORELLO old fruit, I did just that and it said carbinol was an alcohol derived from methanol (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Carbinol) in other words the .CH2OH radical. Whereas, cannabinol was the cannabis active compound derivative (3-n-Amyl-6,6,9-trimethyl-6-dibenzopyran-1-ol) (http://www.thc.nl/Documents/Cannabidiol.htm) So I think someone here is wrong, and it ain't me.
Your information is correct, j2buttonsw old chap. However, if you type in tetra hydro carbinol into your search, aswell as many links to alchohol related carbinol, you will also find one debating the THC levels in hemp as compared to cannabis. This clearly shows the C as standing for carbinol...
Ah a seminal work by the world renowned Ruth Fahrbach, Hemptress. Sadly, she known **** all about chemistry. Thanks for an interesting afternoon, Regards, j2buttonsw
Tetra hydra cannabinol is the naturally occuring alkaloid in hemp that gets you stoned because is is chemically similar to the neurotransmitter serotonin. This regulates dreams and emotions in people that have a life. Continued interruption of brain chemistry like this can only lead to depression, loss of ambition and possibly trigger mental illnesses. You can recover if you stop. It is not addictive but is often ingrained in social circles making it hard for a reformer to escape the habit for years.
