My son is in Australia, he wants to ring his cousin in New Zealand does any one know the code he should use both are on mobile phones

0011 (to get out of Australia) + 64 ( the code for NZ) + the mobile number (omitting the leadind zero if there is one).
He will need the australia code, followed by the NZ code, the NZ city code (Like the UK 0208 etc) and finally number.

The first bits will therefore be:

0011+64+...................................................

If both are English mobile numbers just phone the number as you would in England. I tried to use the codes before the number and it wouldn't work but it worked dialling straight through.
