Hi AB's/Gasman I have a Valliant EcoMAX boiler which has a 'warm start' facility which is supposed to give instantaneous delivery of hot water. Does this facility actually use more gas and therefore cost more to use than just waiting for the water to heat up? Thanks in advance. Simon.

It works by firing up the boiler periodically, say every 15 minutes, to keep the water hot.
So it will definitely use more gas.
There's no such thing as a free lunch (or free energy).
yes it does use more gas, on the worcester boilers you can turn the pre-heat off, not sure about the vaillants.
