If your using one of the 4 in 1 or 5 in 1 tablets , you don't.

Im using Finish powerball "max in 1" so i'm not sure!!
By reading the box i have now found out that i don't need to unwrap the tablets..... being unwrapping them for ages Ooopps!!

Within the dishwater there is an inbuilt water softener.
The softener only works for a specific quantity of water passing through it, say for 10 cycles for example after which it loses its ability to produce soft water, The salt is used to regenerate the unit to allow more soft water to be produced.

basically if you live in a hard water area the water will need softening to prevent limescale damage to the dishwasher and prevents limescale streaks on dishes
