skype

how do i unmute my microphone on skype itself? when i click on the icon it wont unmute. i dont have the headset in so i know it must be the webpage that needs changing. tried to skype 3 people last week and i could hear them but they couldnt hear me. when i have my headset on it isnt muted so must definitely be the mute icon on the screen.

ps ive clicked on the screen icon and it wont unmute and when i go into the call icon at the top for unmute microphone it didnt work! help!!!!!!!!!!!
