socket error in outlook express

i can receive mail but cant send any in outlook express. i keep getting the message The connection to the server has failed. Server: 'localhost', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 7362, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E help!

Go into your outlook settings (tools->account options, perhaps?), and see what your SMTP server is set to.

It should be set as the smtp server of your ISP, or email host.

smtp.yourisp.co.uk, for example.
