Can I use hopi candles on myself and would this be dangerous? I do not have any of the medical problems listed on the hopi candles web-sites, but just a build up of wax , as well as frequent catarrh. (I'm not fond of blowing my nose, to clear the fluid, either!) Do the candles work, when done a few times, or is it all a health gimic?

It could be dangerous. I am profoundly deaf and after talking to the nurse at my local practitioners they advised I used a few drops of olive oil weekly. They suggested this to me after checking my ears. I would say right now to you that you get your ears checked at the doctors and go by their advice (which I think may well exclude a candle) and I am profoundly deaf (which is hereditary) my husband is an audiologist and my Uncle is a Doctor and my Aunt is a nurse so I think I may know what I am talking about to advise you. You need to make an appointment to see a nurse at least , and ask them the best methods for you as a person/patient in keeping your wax on the move.
Not a good idea to do yourself. Idalovett is right, go see a doctor first to make sure it would be safe for you to have done. Then go to a practitioner and have them do it for you. It is quite effective in most cases, but everyone is different, so I can't predict your outcome. Hope it works for you too though. Best of luck!
