Will this work? Vodaphone was previously a contract phone but I want to use a pay-as-you-go Orange SIM card.

You will probably find that the phone has been locked to the vodaphone network. You can get it unlocked quite cheaply, you can get the unlock codes from ebay for a couple of pounds or take the phone to a mobile phone stall in your local market (which will probably cost you about �10).
