Without rushing out & buying screen wipes, what is the best way to clean my flat screen without it smearing etc?

Do I spray it directly onto the screen and what type of clothe is best to use?

I just use a microfibre cloth, like the ones you get as a glasses lens cleaner as fender suggests.
