Why Does This Have To Be Me?

I got a job I don't enjoy with not enough hours, no car, no boyfriend and no house. I thought I'd have alot more going for me I did years so feel like I did something and being punished

I have a daughter who is dyspraxic and dyslexic and she drives a car. An automatic transmission.

Auntypoll, does your daughter receive help for dyspraxia?

Has she had the same problems that Abbey has, regarding work, making decisions etc?

Actually, I didn't say, because Naomi was quite hurtful when I made my last reply.with about  my reply and made quite remarks about some people  not understanding, but I do know quite a lot about autism and dyspraxia due to working in schools and mentoring groups of secondary school pupils with disabilities.  Also one of my sons best mates has autism.  In his 40s now and brilliant with engine's of all types.  It isn't easy for Abbie but she needs a bit of kind pushing  to help her achieve and to build up some confidence.    I don't think this is the right site for her though.  And I can understand why people are complaining.

Barsel my daughter got minimal help at school but was statemented as special needs. We were lucky to be able to access private treatment and she achieved good GCSE's and had gone on to have a good career. Dyspraxia and dyslexia is a spectrum and can affect different people in different ways.

Oldlottie you have hit the nail on the head with your 'gentle pushing' that's exactly what I did with my daughter you need to be encouraging and not taking 'I can't do it 'as an excuse . I can tell you my daughter is now very grateful I pushed her hard.

Abbey, if you are going to see your GP on the 16th, ask him if he can refer you to a counsellor who you can express your concerns to. When you come on here asking questions of what should you do, most of us don't know how to answer you as we either don't understand you and how you feel about things, or because we simply are not trained to help you.

Asking about what you should wear is different, but you would have to accept that what you choose as a young woman, isn't what a lot of Abers would choose because we are older and the style you like isn't what some of us like.

Anyway, Abbey. I hope you read this and I hope you will be confident enough to speak to your GP when you see him. Would you want your Mum to go with you in case there is something you forget to mention? Good luck.
