Having caught 14 mice in the house in the last week (attic and upstairs cupboard where pipes come down into the roof from the water tank to hot press) now catching very young ones at rate of one a day. Do Ultrasonic repellers work ? Has anyone any experience of them ? Any recommendations of a reliable make ?
Following an infestation I started using them in France and they have been very effective. Still get the occasional visitor but one at either end of the house has reduced the numbers drastically.
Cant give you a name as I just bought them from the local supermarket.
For what they cost to run I think they are worth a try in conjunction with other methods.
Wont put down poison - don't want them rotting under floorboards etc.
Haven't had any in 17 years but in November we had one in daughters bedroom - trapped it but never thought to locate the source which was across the landing in the upstairs cupboard and from there into the loft.
Guess the rest are a result of them breeding.
I have used humane traps inside the house and released them into local countryside, found peanut butter and chocolate the best attractive, but use poison in my sheds.
Woodchopper, if you take Tony's advice, do be aware that studies show that a mouse can find its way back to a former nesting ground from as far away as 6 miles. If you choose a good relocation spot where your mice can be happy and thrive they may survive, and are less likely to return.
