Since when has one of the above been less than a year?
Rapist given 33 life sentences, must serve a minimum of thirty years.
It doesn't add up.

My thoughts on that case too Caran. But you can't expect Judges to be able to do simple arithmetic.
They have to quote a minimum in most cases, that is the earliest a case can be looked at again.
With minimum sentences there is a good chance they'll never get out. People get institutionalised very quickly.
because we have ignored the difference between concurrent and consecutive.
and we have also temporarily forgotten that once one had died - that is the life sentence over, even if there are a few more ( 32 in fact ) to serve

and why is it changing and not like your auld gran-daddy used to say?

because the Home Secretary used to decide who was an elected politician and therefore shouldnt be doing judgy things

a judge can decide - never let out - and I thought he wd impose one
but he didnt

this one the officers said was too violent to get into the video room ( not even court)

the judge felt obliged to go to the prison and read out to him the list of charges - he seemed to have the idea that if he didnt turn up - then they couldnt try him ( nooooooo)
