Do you simply have to tell your lender -before the 29
August -,that you wish them to check if you had PPI in the past on any product - in order for a claim to proceed , after the 29 August ?

You might need to word your contact with the lender carefully, so that it's clear that you're actually making a claim. Otherwise they might be able to tell you on 30 August that "Yes, you had PPI but it's too late to claim now".
