Sat amongst fellow male workers, me the female & three males, them watching football in our break. The C word was said a number of times, till I couldn't not react. I think they thought it odd for reacting, don't you find it a vulgar word?
I am very far from being a prude, but uncalled for gratuitous cursing is unnecessary and says something about the..inadequate.. person resorting to it....
Probably carried away with the game emmie, but hard to have forgotten I was there, a massive common room and just the four of us. I wish I'd have just upped and left the room in silence, sometimes silence says more than any words.
This reminds me of the first lecture from our platoon sergeant when I joined the RAF. "During this course you will be subjected to multiple verbal abuse. However, we will never call you a b******d, in case you happen to be one".
It's the one word I find truly vulgar and offensive but work in a male dominated business and it's used a lot in banter. Most, if not all of them, are respectful enough to not use it in direct conversation with me.
