Suggestions For A Torch For A Young Gap Year Traveller

I have been looking for a suitable torch for a traveller and I am overwhelmed with the choices I have. There are wind up torches, led, rechargeable etc.

Has anyone got any personal recommendations??

I had a Mini-Maglite on my belt when I was a copper and they were very reliable.
