Yes from the age of 16yrs I won a couple of medals at Bisley. Now at the wrong side of 60 I have a SSG 69 7.62mm Manlicher with a Nightforce scope.
A Browning .223 A Bolt with a Bushnell scope and a Converted Lee Enfield Mk 1V by Fultons of Bisley firing 7.62mm with a Edgar Bros scope. Shot in the PUK championship the year before last at Bisley.Missed out this year due to cancer op but will compete this year again,if my good luck holds out.All rifles zeroed in at 100yds and ready to put at least 3 rnds in a 3" grouping at 600yds.
Must confess I find today's shooting a bit of a cheat. Telescopic scopes and a bipod Pah. In my youth iron vernier sights,a two point sling and a trusty .303 service rifle achieved a more satisfying result especially when the old mince pies were a bit sharper.

I have a clutch of sporting rifles (all with scopes) in .308, .243,.223 and 2 x .22's.
I took up hunting with rifles in a big way after they took all my pistols away. I shot all the pistol disciplines from precision to practical for the national Police team and the Met.
I don't use rifles so much these days as I am heavily engaged in game shooting with shotguns.
This makes no sense to me except I know it's about guns. Sounds impressive nonetheless.
Big boys toys ummmm ;-)
Sigh.........
But only until Feb 1st.....
'Sokay.....I'll get some steps..... :-(

You must have come across Dave Goodfellow (Ex met and TDT) in your shooting career. Now Team Britain olympic adviser in shooting.
Sorry ladies if talk of boys toys bores you. The title did read FAO Shoota.Well if you want to do what ladies do better i.e. pry then tough. Welcome to the world of shooting. :-)
Yes I knew Dave, didn't realise he had become quite so exalted though...
Retrocop is obviously unaware of my skills, Shoota.....but as has been rudely pointed out...this is an exclusive thread so I'll bow out and leave you ....boys....☺...to it.

Incidentally I love the logo in the middle of your Avatar. Remember that saying well. Do you remember ASPOM? That one came about during the miner's strike.
I have a couple of those tie-pins, purchased on Fleabay.
ASPOM passed me by..... although I did go upcountry to play with the miners a few times.

Sorry gness. In no way did I intend to be rude to you. it is a sort of humour that only people like shoota may understand. We existed on banter and a comic noire type sense of humour .It was a type of pressure valve in times of stress which will go to the grave with us.I wouldn't expect you to understand but again I am sorry if I inadvertently offended you.
It is a shoota/gness thing Retro, she is constantly trying to make me see the error of my ways and renounce live quarry shooting. I in turn am constantly trying to include her on my list of live quarry.....

Sorry shoota. Dare not elaborate on ASPOM. I seem to upset the delicate sensitivities of most on AB whenever I make an innocent remark or give an opinion. Give you a clue. First two letters are Arthur Scargill and last stands for mortgage.Few tie pins of that were struck but I doubt if you will find those on fleabay.
G, shoota wants to show you his '' gun cabinet '!!!!!!!!!
Gotcha, many got new cars and big TV's at the least. Personally I tried to stay out of it as much as possible but I was in Brighton when the bomb went off.
Blow the cabinet squit, it's the full bore cannon it contains I want to show her....

Oh I understand. Whenever I remark to someone that I am heavily into firearms and shooting I find I have to defend myself that I only shoot paper targets that do not any longer portray a Hun's head.Otherwise I am seen as a homicidal maniac intent on taking out the staff and infants of the local creche.
'' full bore cannon'' aye right ,
When I worked at BBC I joined the Rifle club. We used the range under Waterloo station and went to Bisley.
