Iron Tablets
3 Answers
ive have now been given iron tablets (i posted a previous question about blood last week)
my question is - how long before they start to work?
they said my iron levels were very low and also haemaglobin, the red blood cells were too (not sure what that means or the difference or if ive misunderstood)
i have to go back in two weeks for them to check they are working etc
just wondering how soon i am likely to start feeling a bit better??
i feel utterly wiped out, dizzy and just crap. i have never had it this bad before - usually my anaemia has not been this debilitating
the nosebleeds have pretty much stopped thankfully and when i do get one i basically squash my nose until it stops so i dont lose much at all.
i am going to the hospital at some point to have the causes addresses, to have it cauterised and also possibly an op to straighten it
thanks all

So if your haemoglobin was 8 g/dl to start, it would take about 2 weeks to rise to a level of 10 g/dl.so you should start to feel better reasonably soon,
It takes about 3/4 months for the iron stores in the body to be replaced.
