Maybe if you start in safe mode (keep tapping the F8 key as the computer starts) then run the spyware and anti virus programme. You should also be able to right-click on the icon and remove it from safe mode.
Does it appear in the list of wallpapers in the properties section for your display? If so, you should be able to delete it from there. I think it will also be in "my pictures", and you should be able to delete it there too.

Are you using windows xp.Is the advert for casinos or so called adult sites.?I use xp and had a problem like this. The advert was for the type of sites I have mentioned.I had clicked on a site which was a blind link,ie a false one.The advert stayed in my desktop and I could`nt remove it.My computer worked normally otherwise. The way I got rid of it was just to close the account down and open up another one with a different user name.Since then I have the new version of xp installed and I also installed AVG which has prevented any further mishaps.
