I recently bought a freeview box, I set it up and searched for the channels, of which it found around 20. When I view most of these channels the sound and the image breaks up. I contacted a TV and Ariel specialist and he said I need a "Mast Head Adapter" of the OX2 variety, and that this would solve my problem.
Are these adapters the same as a normal Ariel booster? And how easy are they to fit?

As the name suggests, this is an amplifier located on the mast where the aeriel is attached I.e. as close to the aeriel as possible. This ensures that only the signal is amplified wheras a signal booster inside the property will amplify the signal and any interference picked up by the aerial cable. It also reduces signal loss through the cabling.

They need a power supply - this can be a seperate unit close by eg. in the attic. Some can be fed through the aeriel lead itself so the power unit can be at the end of the aeriel lead i.e. near freeview box.

You need to obiously go on the roof and basically install 'in line' into the aeriel downlead.

The OX2 is probably UX2 and refers to a type manufactured by Antiference - it provides two outputs from a single aeriel input - see here ;

And NO - I don't work for them !!!

Didn't the aerial expert tell you?
Ariel is what you wash your clothes in......It's aerial.
Try using Bold instead - it has built in Fabric Softener which will be easier for the signal to go through.

Hee-hee!
