We have a motion sensor security light on our garage which has a bulb in a plastic covering and the motion sensor part below. I noticed yesterday that the 'glass' on the motion sensor has been broken and now the light doesn't work. I have no idea how it got broken. The whole of the front 'glass' has disappeared.

Do we have to replace the whole thing or is it possible to just replace the motion sensor bit?

You can buy a seperate sensor and wire it up to the original light if you wish, the motion sensor parts are normally plastic, these get brittle over time and break up. Probably best to buy a complete light with sensor included, will look better and be an easier job as no additional wiring to be one.
Agree with KJN, Tilly. Unless it's a particularly expensive light that is worth repairing, it's much easier to replace it.

Thank you, KJN. I thought we might have to get a new one. Hopefully, the prices have come down since we bought the last two. Will do a google search.
Then, we will have to get an electrician to put it up. More expense.
