John Terry prosecution a costly mistake

I don't know why this case was proceeded with when we have a reluctant witness/ victim who admitted he was not offended at the time, some doubt about the words used (the prosecution weren't to know that the accused would admit to them), and the only word with a racial reference being the word black -- not any of its highly objectionable alternatives. If a female called me a so-and-so male so-and-so, would that be a sexist comment? We knew already that a lot of footballers are overpaid and vulgar, and did not need to foot the bill as taxpayers to confirm this.
