Sky anytime

I have a sky plus HD box and I would like to use Sky Anytime.
So I have to connect the box to the router, or is it possible to use wifi? My router is upstairs, so it would be a bit of a pain to have to connect it.

I'm having a fiddle with my box, but don't really know what I'm doing...

You either need the sky anytime wireless bridge (about £60 from sky), or buy one from ebay...

Or a couple of home plugs would work too
http://www.ebay.co.uk...g&hash=item2ebc4da904
(note these ones come with EU to UK adaptor for the mains)

Or it is possible to set most wireless routers to bridge the wireless to wired so you could possibly use an old router if you have on kicking about.
There is Sky Anytime and Sky Anytime+.

If you have a Sky HD then you already have Anytime.

You are talking about Anytime+

>>>>So I have to connect the box to the router, or is it possible to use wifi?

You do connect the "box" (Sky box) to the router via wi fi.

But to do that you need another "box" to plug into the Sky box to turn it into wi fi. This has a short cable so sits on or near the Sky box.

This "box" is the wireless bridge that Sky sell you for £60.
Deputy_sherriff, are you talking about Anytime or Anytime+? You don't need a router for Anytime, you do for Anytime+.

I don't know. What is the difference between the two?
From http://www.sky.com/he...ytime-plus/index.html

What's the difference between Sky Anytime and Sky Anytime+?

Once you are connected to Sky Anytime+ you instantly notice the new programme images within the Showcase tabs which are exclusive to Sky Anytime+. Sky Anytime+ gives customers with Sky Broadband Unlimited* access to a huge library of TV on demand (content depends on your Sky TV subscription) delivered through their Sky Broadband service. The images show the difference in screens when connected to Sky Anytime or Sky Anytime+.

If you do not have Sky Broadband, then if you have a Sky+HD box or Sky+ you will see Sky Anytime which gives you a selection of the latest TV on demand (content depends on your Sky TV subscription) to discover whenever you want to. Every day we push programmes to your Sky box so you can watch them whenever you want.

Customers with Sky Anytime+ still have access to these programmes through the Showcase section of the service – you do not need to download anything from here as programmes are stored locally on your Sky+HD or Sky+ box. Everything else you will need to download, but remember if you are on Sky Broadband Everyday Lite, you have a download usage allowance of 2GB per month which means you could download approximately three 30-minute shows in SD (standard definition) per month along with typical general internet usage. If you want the freedom to download as much as you like then we recommend Sky Broadband Unlimited which has no usage caps.

*You can still access content with Sky Broadband Everyday Lite, but what you can watch will be limited by your 2GB monthly download allowance.

Ellipsis, that's fantastic. Thank you so much. I was getting a bit confused as to what the difference was. I did look on Sky's website, but I was also confused by that... I get confused easily :-)
Thanks though, I now totally understand.
I am going to wire the box to my router, as I think £60 for yet another box from Sky is a blimmin cheek!

Thanks to all... muchos appreciated :-)
I don't think the older Sky HD boxes are capable of receiving the internet, I'm almost certain my dad'd doesn't, it's about 3 years old, so check with Sky before laying out £60.
