I need to replace the thermostat on my fridge, it is a Hotpoint RLA53G. My fridge is icing up at the back eventhough it is only set on number 1. I have bought the thermostat but it does not have any fitting instructions. Please can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to get some instructions or has anyone done this already. I have located the thermostat at the front of the fridge and it should just be a like for like replacement but I am unsure?

I have done it although not on that model. However it may not be the thermostat . What can happen the insulation can become saturated with water over a period of years and it can be impossible to dry it out . As a result the compressor rarely cuts out . Is there evidence of wetness under the fridge ? If you switch the fridge off see if there's a lot of water underneath the fridge. That would indicate that the insulation contains water and when you switch off it melts.
