If you visit this website (which a reputable installer should be a member of - there may be oter bodies) there is a downloadable leaflet which will give you a guide to what they should be providing:

People in our area had done it for nothing, along with lagging of lofts etc. Check with your local council to see if there's a similar scheme going on in your area. The firm who did ours were great.
have you looked at the check a trade website? Other than that ask for contact details of folk they have done work for and check them out
We have had cavity wall insulation put in by a company which had a link through the council page - it cost £49, and there is also the option to get the loft insulated for another £49. This applies to both council and private housing, since we are council and my daughter has had it done and owns her house. The man came and did a test drill to check whether the walls were suitable, then made the appointment, and two workmen arrived, on time, and did an excellent job. Took about 2 hours. Well worth it.
Does it cut down on noise coming through the walls from next door James?
If only ! Unfortunately not since they only did the front and back walls because we are in a terrace
Me too james! That's why I wondered if they'd do the sides (if you see what I mean!)
