Stupidly I spraypainted a mirror frame with cream (gloss-type) paint without protecting my driveway - I thought it would easily wash off with turps. It didn't.

I have tried aforesaid turps, bleach and jeyes fluid. Wirebrushing is taking ages, with little effect.

any suggestions anyone? x

leave it to the elements, it will wear off with time.
try paint thinner and a pressure washer x
acetone and then when it is soft a a wirebrush and strong detergent will at least loosen it a bit so it will fade quicker

Acetone rowan? So can I use nail varnish remover?
if you want to waste money...buy neat acetone from the chemist...it is cheaper...

it is the best thing for softening dried paint...then you have a chance of shifting it...the good thing is with winter approaching frost rain and snow should finish the job by spring

I'll just sit back and wait for nature to take its course then.... No point scrubbing away if it'll go off its own accord. Thanks guys x
How about a blow-lamp? but keep a bucket of water handy just in case your tarmac catches fire!!!

Oh wak, wak, wak - you are obviously unaware of my accident-prone nature and history of mishaps...... I got a blowtorch for my creme brulees this summer - my daughter confiscated it.

Good idea though. And good fun trying...........................!
Anything which will remove the paint will almost certainly cause the tarmac to break down too.

Just leave it until it wears off with time (or paint over it black :))

Oh chuck - you have pointed out the very obvious - paint it black, as the rolling stones once sang - of course..... Or dark charcoal-y grey. I shall consult a dulux colour chart immediatement....
Chuckles is right Salla ............ that's what I've done if I've made a mess on tarmac. Cheap black bitumen paint.
I'm glad you mentioned the bitumen part Builder......(visions of salla using high gloss)

God craft - you're right, I would have used ordinary black paint.

Can you get dark grey bitumen Mr Builder - cos my tarmac is quite faded, and black wouldn't blend in. I'd end up doing the whole driveway, and I really can't be bothered with all that......
