Passion Flower Fruit

Hi, I've just picked some ripe (bright yellow) fruit from a friend's plant but they are empty! I had a passion flower plant a few years ago and the fruits used to contain a lot of seeds in a sort of jelly (a bit like frogspawn), Why are my friend's fruits 'hollow'?

Passion Flower fruit

I have just discovered fruit on my passiflora (passion flower).  Never having had one of these plants can any-one tell me are these edible or what are they? Many Thanks!

we have a passion fruit plant growing in our back garden and I was wondering if the fruits are edible? they're only small and green and some a rich orange colour but i think those have gone abit bad!...
